HYPER WHAT'S THAT ??
====================
Hyper is a so called 'PEX' which stands for proboard executable.
The function of this pex is to bring a 'hypertext' kind of software
in the reach of everyone running a proboard bbs.
WHY USE HYPER
=============
One of the biggest advantages of the hyperpex is that you now have the
chance of creating an interactive information-system or even better a
menu-system.
With a single stroke on one of the cursorkey's you can select a passage
where you want some extra info on.

INSTALLATION
============
Installing the hyper pex is quit simple, create a directory and name
this directory 'hyptext' or whatever.
Extract the files from the archive into this directory, and make a menu
option #60 and put on the dataline DRIVE:\PATH\HYPER.PEX.
Make sure you have at least the hyper file 'HYPER.HYP' because this is
the screen that will be automatically loaded when the pex is started.
If you don't like the demo screens that are currently in the archive
just delete all .hyp files and create your own screens.
More on creating .hyp screens follows.
If you do wish to maintain using these screens, please notice that there
are also download options in it.
So better make sure that you change filenames and paths to fit your con-
figuration.
CREATING .HYP SCREENS
=====================
How to create hyper screens, and what you should keep in mind.
The first thing that i would like to say to you is :
Know what you're doing, because if you're trying to make a complex
structure you could easyly loose control over your structure.
you can make the structure 100 fields deep, so if you can do it without
going in err , you'll have my respect.
Further i strongly recommend using screenlenghts of maximum 23 lines
only because otherwise the screen will not be properly formatted.
This is however temporarily, future version will support longer
screenlenghts with the possibility to scroll up and down.
make sure your screens never use the '@' sign in the text.
So these are the tips on making your own screens, now comes the
real work !
How to make a screen :
just use your allday text editor for this, simply create an ascii
screen as always, then select which words you want to be highlighted
(and thus be an extra subscreen with additional information) .
Then if you select a word, place the word between '@' signs (without
the quotes) and behind the second '@' place the name of the screen you
want to display if a user selects that highlighted word.
And than finish the name of the name of the screen with an additional
third '@'.
If for example you make a line 'hello my name is Willem'
and you would like the users to have some extra info on willem
you could make willem highlighted like this :
'hello my name is @Willem@Willem@'
So then the file Willem.hyp will be displayed if a user selects the
keyword willem.
This is becoming pretty heavy isn't it, but you aint seen nothin' yet !
There's also the possibility to execute proboard menu functions on each
highlighted keyword.
the syntax for this is @KEYWORD@/<menufunction nr>=<data>
Note !! the parameters between the <> have to be replaced with the
proper parameters.
So for example an option to download a free file from your bbs would
look something like this :
To download this file Click @Here@/32=/f=c:\free\filename.* /i /t@ .
So to let hyper know that it has to execute a menu-function you have
to use a forward slash trailed by a menufuntion number (which you can
find in the proboard manual).
SPECIAL THANKS GO TO:
